How many of you sit down and put pen to paper to express your thoughts, feelings, gratitude, or even rants to get them out of your system?
I’ll be honest, I never used to be one to do that. I would rarely write things down, as I am much more of a laptop and IPhone kind of girl for notes and appointments, but lately I have been drawn more and more to writing things down in a journal. Why? I find it therapeutic and a really good way to get the never ending thoughts out of my head, and be able to make more sense of them.
Have you ever noticed how much more clearly you can see other people’s situations and how much easier it is to give them advice? Yet when we try and do the same for ourselves, it’s not often that simple. Which is why journaling can be a really powerful habit to get into.
It’s amazing how much more things make sense when we can see it from the outside, and reading your words back on paper can provide that much needed clarity. Even reading back on it a week later, I find it to be a really useful tool for self awareness.
I recently learnt the art of journaling and manifestation from a very good friend of mine, and it has been the best discovery I have had when it comes to my self-development.
We all know what we want right? Let me ask you this. How many of you have done some hard core self work, and are able to look yourself in the mirror and see your flaws from the inside out, and be able to FULLY accept everything you see and know to be true , regardless of whether you like it or not.
What I learnt about the process of journaling, is that by writing down some brutally honest truths about yourself, it is much easier to confront them and give you much needed clarity. By having this clarity, we can then take the next step to overcoming these barriers, that is, if we are open to acceptance.
Why not do a little activity, and write down all of the things that you want to be. What kind of person do you want to be?
What kind of values do you want to have?
How do you want people to treat you?
How do you want to treat others?
What kind of life do you want to live?
Now based on what you have written down, how many of these things are actually aligning with what is true for you in the present moment?
